After training in Bloodline Champions, a small team Stunlock took up a new project – Battlerite, which was based on the same idea. Not MOBA, but also Arena
The creators of Battlerite are always their offspring, appeared in the Early Access of Steam, they oppose the rest of the genre games and even come up with their own TAB (Team Arena Brawler), which can be translated as the Arena of Team Fights. Here battles in front of low-end viewers go for five two-minute rounds. The victory goes to those who will take the first three of them. In the spacious arenas where teams 2 to 2 and 3 to 3 fight, there are a number of walls and other obstacles, and in its center a sphere periodically appears, the destruction of which gives health or energy to the team that struck the last blow.
But all this is just a background for the main feature of the project. In Battlerite there are no abilities (except for shields) for which you can specify a goal. Each ability is a skill, that is, you need to predict the direction of the character and apply the ability, taking into account its speed. And this applies not only to all kinds of attacking skills, but also healing abilities and even autoattacks. Although, here they have such a name is no longer suitable.
In addition, instead of running after mouse clicks, the character needs to be controlled in the manner of shooters – WASD + aiming with the mouse.
The victory must be earned
Manas have no heroes. Limit players only kickbacks. But there is energy that you need to accumulate, inflicting damage to your enemies, to use the ultra and three other additional abilities. In total, by the way, each fighter has 7 standard abilities and 2 alternative abilities – 9 abilities, most of which are skill shots. Experienced player already from these figures it becomes clear how demanding this game is to the skills of the player.
Each character needs a long and careful study in battles with real people, otherwise it will not work out good results. Also it is necessary to switch to another hero, as immediately the hands turn into claw claws, and the whole skill, which just seemed unrealistically high, evaporates. Yes, the ability sets are unique and often specific, so players prefer not to be scattered on improving the game skills for all the heroes at once – they choose one, maybe two, and move to the heights of the rating system. Some already write guides, although each patch goes through the balance properly, changing some of the fighters beyond recognition.
And again the trunks
Instead of the system of pumping the account, it is proposed to extract chests, from which avatars, characters and weapons, mounts drop out. The latter are also there, although they are used mainly only at the beginning of the round.
Heroes also have development both in combat and outside of it. Before each round is offered to choose one of three talents, which will help to adjust the game for certain opponents. Outside the battle, experience is simply gained, levels are raised, and the reward is given by experience or in-game currency.
Early Access Problems
In the future Battlerite will be free, but now those who want to play will have to buy it. For the CIS, the price is symbolic – about $ 6. Dynamic gameplay does not forgive mistakes and requires players to maximize concentration and impact. Apparently, the gaming community has long been rushing about in search of this particular game, so the first 2 weeks the project was kept at the top of the Steam sales line, and the total number of players approached 200 thousand.
Now online is not as high as it could be. The faulty rating system, which Stunlock is actively working on now, and the close company of the heroes are to blame for this.
